Back in April 1983, Leisure Jazz was producing a series of jazz shows at the then home of the DUKES of Dixieland, Dukes’ Place, located atop the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans French Quarter. One of those series was called “Jazz From New Orleans”, one hour specials that featured the DUKES (Frank Trapani on trumpet, Otis Bazoon, clarinet; Bob O’Rourke, trombone; Dick Johnson, drums; Danny Rubio, tuba and Phamous Lambert, piano; ), backing “Supersinger” Marilyn Maye, along with her conductor Mark Franklin & bassist, Vic Pitt.

NOTE:
Other one hour shows from this April time period that were shot up at Dukes’ Place were:
BRITISH BASH, with Chris Barber & Sweet Substitute; NY Jazz Quartet; Les McCann & His Magic Band; and the four specials, ” DIXIELAND JAZZ FROM NEW ORLEANS” that featured Banu Gibson & New Orleans Hot Jazz Orchestra; James Davis & his Paddock Jazz Band; Alvin Alcorn Jazz Band; Connie Jones & the Crescent City Jazz Band and Clive Wilson & his Original Camellia Jazz Band.
